January is a Calmer Month

The 10ft wide x 30ft long polytunnel was set up on a community plot near Laira Green Primary School, in Laira, Plymouth. The joint project between the school and the community aims to educate the pupils on where food comes from and how to grow their own. It will also teach adults in the community about what the pupils learn.

The polytunnel was opened by the headteacher and a local councillor who then had a tour of the allotment and enjoyed some berry tasting.

The celebrations continued with the children harvesting carrots, cucumbers and cabbage, and making coleshaw for the adults to try. A barbecue was accompanied with lots of freshly pulled onions to go with the burgers and hotdogs.
